About this position:

Starting Wage: $20.00 - $30.00, depending on experience
Farwest’s Inside Sales team seeks a motivated and dependable individual to join their Eugene Corporate team as an Inside Sales Trainee. In this role, you will learn the foundational skills of Farwest’s inside sales process, including how to create customer quotes, enter and manage orders, and provide accurate information on product availability, pricing, and lead times. You will gain exposure to all divisions of Farwest Steel Corporation while developing the ability to deliver excellent customer service and build strong professional relationships.
Key Responsibilities for this role include:
- Learn how to develop customer quotes and convert them to orders by verifying inventory levels, pricing accuracy, and service requirements.
- Assist the Inside Sales team with overflow requests, will calls, and drawings for large projects.
- Learn and apply techniques for educating customers on Farwest’s full range of services, capabilities, and inventory offerings across all divisions.
- Develop the ability to provide timely and professional follow-up on all quotes and orders, including feedback on pricing, quality, and delivery.
- Coordinate with the Credit Department to confirm customer account status when processing high-value or rush orders.
- Track and acknowledge any changes to customer orders, verifying revisions for accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with internal departments including Purchasing, Operations, and Shipping - to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Maintain professional and courteous communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma required
- associate or bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, or a related field preferred.
- Prior sales, customer service, or steel industry experience preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and professional telephone skills.
- Excellent listening, note-taking, and follow-up abilities.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations and interpret written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Professional demeanor and adaptability in a variety of customer and office settings.
